Smell of fuel, sluggish, low idle.

Had my 05 VZ wagon serviced earlier this week and straight away she didn't feel right. I was tired after a long day so put it down to that but today I went to the other side of the city and spent the whole trip with the heavy smell of fuel. The idle is sitting around 500 and it shuddered and surged, then on the way home I was coming down the highway in traffic sitting at about 80ks and it started spitting. I gave it a little and seemed to do ok. I have a new mechanic as I have just recently moved to brissy so would like a heads up as to what this could be and if this could be an easy fix before taking it back to the mechanic.

Sounds like a chamber isn't firing. Check your coils on the spark plugs, ones probably not sparking.
