have a racing accident and brake your knee cap, can't walk can't go get smokes, cant go out side to smoke. morphin and several other painkillers worked for me. then just dont work in hospitality or around total d$heads and no need to pick up the smokes again. or the sac tap idea that'd work wonders. if you go to your gp, they can give you something better then nicabate has helped a lot of long time pack a day smokers i know.
im hearing ya mate like i said i only have enough rollies for 2 todays i think so yea here we go:thumbsup:
That is an interesting quote because that is exactly how I DID give up the fags. I worked with a bloke who also smoked so I gave him my packet, then everytime I wanted a smoke I simply asked for one from him, and I shared the cost equally with him, so when he ran out he would buy a pack then I would buy the next pack, and I found by not having them in my pocket he was smoking two to my one. It took about a week like that until I said that's it, no more. About a week later I was driving and thought, God I would love a smoke, but I held out and have not smoked since. The year was approx 1979 and they were 45 cents a pack and we got 10% discount on a carton of 10 packs, so $4 a carton. They are now $128 a carton, while in 2001 they were $66 a carton. Wonder what they will be in another 10 years ?
Hi, I have never been a smoker, so don't have first hand experience. However, my wife went from 70 a day to zero on the birth of our first son, after earlier unsuccessful attempts. She has now not smoked for over 18 years. She learned that the "addiction" part only lasts about three weeks. The biggest danger was habit, i.e. making a cup of coffee and lighting up. Maybe you could look to do different things that are not alligned with having a fag so the habit part is minimised. The other thing she did was decided that she was actually the master of cigarettes, not the other way around. She carried a packet in her handbag for a year without touching it to prove to herself that she was the boss. We are all wishing you success.
Mum did that too. Worked well for her. She hasnt had one in 15 months now but says she still craves it.
My old man tried the Nicorette and QuitX nicotine chewing gum. worked for him. Hasn't smoked for years, but is addicted to the gum now haha.
Just reading this is making me wanting a smoke right now lol But just keep busy, try to avoid other smokers, its very hard i gave up for a few months but went through a very shitty patch, job hours cut, money worries etc for a while and started again to get through it and calm the nerves. but everythings back ontrack and last pack of rollies for me i hope for a while.
Okay here's something different, that could be stepping stone towards giving up and I suspect this will get a few laughs too. Buy one of the E-Cigs. No tar or any of the other 1000 odd chemicals in cigs. Just water with a flavouring and or nicotine if you want the hit. No smoke, just water vapour. Draws like a real cig, you exhale a warm vapour like a real cig and cos it has no smoke or smell, it's legal to smoke it anyway. Drives people nuts when you pull it out in the office for a drag................next, a plane trip. See what comments that gets. Bought one with the idea of subbing it in between the real smokes and seeing how it goes as a way to cut back.
Tried one a couple weeks ago after my mate started smoking one at the front bar. Got the barstaff and other patrons in stitches. Think it had a strawberry/cherry flavour to it. Good Idea IMO as a sub
This. Best way is cold turkey. I became far more addicted to Nicabate then I was to smoking, in fact the only way I managed to quit Nicabate was by smoking cigarettes again.
not cigs but first day for me off the ganja after smoking heavily everyday for a long time..going well so far just over 24 hours now..
