    saw this on another forum.

Texting and driving - the graphic ad 2 die 4 | World News | News.com.au

only thing running through my mind after it was

    - if the 3rd car had of been traviling at a safe distance (and able to brake in time) they'd still be alive.
    - if the dumb bitch in the back had of been wearing a seat belt, she wouldnt have gone every where, like a fat mess that she was
    - or even if she had roadworthy seatbelts that lockup properly, her friend wouldnt of hit the dash

then again it is a KA. little crumble machine.

saw it on the news the other night, they introduced it as "the new ad to discourage young drivers from txting while driving" cause only young people text while driving, if anything they have the biggest penalty if caught using a phone while driving.

RE the ad, had no effect on me, had trouble holding back a smile at its stupidity tbh

They should have used an iPhone, now that phone could cause a lot of damage!!

The 3rd car must have been txting too.. As if you wouldn't brake if you see that in front of you...

PS. I don't txt and drive, but my partner does.. Well tries to before I scream and grab the phone off her lol.

Why? It was a damned sight more realistic than anything I've ever seen (apart from police investigations and photos of actual fatals - saw plenty of those in my time.) It pointed out the stupidity of:

    texting whilst driving,
    not wearing a belt and
following too closely on a highway.

End result - 2 dead, how many injured?

Today, as I write, a young family has been wiped out in a collision with a B double on the F3 freeway north of Sydney. At this stage it appears that they stopped on the Freeway atnight, with no hazard warning lights operating, and the B double ran up their rear. Their car exploded.

Okay, texting may not have had anything to do with this prang, but it shows how easy it is for people going about their business to die on our highways. If this ad can highlight one common form of stupidity on our roads, and make people think about the risks they take with their lives and others, then it's worth a go.

I didn't laugh at it. I didn't find it funny or stupid. Pity our legislators out here are so lilly livered that they don't try similar advertising tactics.

"OMG!!!11!!! Do U Mean tat i cld die if i txt and driv lik tis, i didnt thnk it ws so bad! im a gr8 drivr lol."

on a more serious note, texting while driving is bad, but i dont think a silly ad like this is going to help, the ad is completely out of whack, seatbelts that fail, other cars that have blind drivers etc.

but hopefully it hits home, stupid drivers are un needed on the highway's or roads around my house, or anywhere.

I think we have bigger issues than worrying about drivers sms'ing while driving, like getting complete deadheads off the road to begin with..

This guy proves why GEN Y's should be banned from roads altogether.

Teen driver killed trying to save petrol

Seriously, it's lucky people like this end up only killing themselves.

I would argue driver education programs would help young people staying alive on the roads...but I am not sure that will help complete and utter idiocy.

Atleast it's better than the ACT Governments idea to get the message across about texting and driving. They have signs up saying 'DRIVE N TXT UB NXT'

Maci, there are a large number of cars on the road that have seatbelts fitted that would perform very similarly or worse, and you cannot rely on other rdrivers for ANYTHING (how many people cannot even indicate or give way, much less to keep their eyes open and react appropriately in an emergency).

I feel you missed the point of the ad... Pity they don't show more like this in QLD, might sober up a few of the idiots on the roads here.

I used to text while driving.. Not anymore.. Not when I could kill my kids in the back seat or someone else on the road.

But yeh, that add hits home to me. I didn't find it funny either. Especially when the part with the baby comes up..

are you one of those people that have 'baby on board' signs?

noticed most topics you've posted in you keep playing the 'my kids' card. like congrat you have kids, but its a nice day for a jog. so jog the f**k on.

I'm seriously considering getting a sticker made up that says 'LRN2TXT N00B' and sticking it to the bottom lol.

I think its funny because of how staged it is, the third car looks like its speeding up for the crash. Also, unless you have no inner ear or sense of balance, you would know if you had drifted that far over.
