hi there, new at this not sure where its meant to go but I can't find any other sites relating to my problem, i own a holden statesmen WH model 2001 series 2 and the rear wheel studs have snapped, need to replace and can't get the disc off, i've taken brake caliper off and released handbrake, even tried neutral and disc rotor and still wont come off, is there anyone that could redirect me to a website or help me out on here maybe? it would be appreciated, thanks.
Hey mate, we don't have a brake specific section, so you'd normal just put this in the section relating to your model. Here. Can't help with your problem, as i only like older models, but have a quick look through here, there might be a howto that someone has done which would help you (even someone painting their brakes might have the howto instructions on how to get the disc off.
I had the same problem not that long ago getting a rear rotor off but on a VP. Spent a whole day on and off bashing it with a rubber mallet and soaking it in WD40 and no luck. Next day tried bashing it again and still nothing. I was quite frustrated so I pulled out the biggest flathead screwdriver I could find and wedged the bastard off. Eventually went 'crack' and fell off. Bloody corrosion.
Yeah, give it a few taps all the way around, and keep getting more and more frustrated until it comes off. If its takes stupid/damaging amount of force, theres either something wrong, or you need to use the remover hole. There will be a threaded hole you screw a bolt into and it works kinda like a steering wheel puller.
Have you backed off your hand brake ? If not pull out the rubber plug ,then turn the disc till the hole is at the bottom then put a small flathead screwdriver in the hole and back off the pads.
