Hey guys,

I was wondering, how you have to understand the amount of maximum work load at safety stands? Bought a pair of 1200kg ones.

Does that mean that EACH can carry 1200kg? Or together, so each 600kg? And i mean for example, when i raise my front and put stands underneath, then approximately half of the car weight is still on the back wheels right? And when i raise the back, too, and put safety stands under the back then i got 4 stands together and each can carry 1200kg, so the car can weigh 4x1200=4800kg.

So i dont have to worry about the weight, when i only put them under the front, right? Because afaik a commodore vt station wagon weighs about 1700kg, so approximately half is only 850.

Did i understand that correctly?

Yes, it's the rating for each stand.

Usually the weight stamped on jack stands and trolley jacks are the Safe Working Load (SWL). Obviously if you go beyond the SWL, you'll be pushing into the Working Load Limit (WLL).

A single stand hold amount stated or stamped.

You have nothing to worry about, just make sure you place them in a solid and secure position. I usually leave the torlley jack under the axle housing or front cross member as well, just extra insurance.
