Someone hit my car.

Just a quick question for those who have had panel damage fixed.

Someone today hit my rear quarter on my SV6 in front of the fuel cover and pushed it in an oval a bit bigger than a footy. There is no crease in the metal and just a small paint flake. I think the rest may buff out (haven't got any decent cutting compound or tools here to try).

How much do you think it would be to get it popped out and resrayed? It is phantom metallic so probably have to get the whole quarter sprayed.

I chuck a couple of photo's up tomorrow when I get some light onto it.

Considering my insurance excess is about $700 (under 25) dont know what to do.

sounds stupid but ive herd of people getin inside the boot and giving it a kick, also u cn se a panel plunger thingo to pull it out, final case scenario is a panel beater bogigng it and respraying it

I can't get at it from the boot. Maybe have to take the plastic lining out of the wheel arch. Might see if the floor puller from work would be able to get onto it. But it will still need a respray.

just do that mate, inner gaurd is easy as to get out and guard should just pop out

Any tips on removal of the inner guard, like screw positions etc. and will I have to take off the rear bumper.

dont bother.
get your GPS out, take the part that suctions to the windscreen and place it in the middle of the dent.
lock the suction on and give it a good firm pull.

go to a dent doctor man and let him use his special wand/stick thing to pop it out properly - from the outside inwards (or however they do it)

if there's no creases he should be able to get it out, and will know how to do it properly without accidentally putting creases/warps etc in there!

and i don't think they charge that much anyway...

1300 Dent Repair > Home

Went to a good panel show friend today to get him to assess the damage. It's a bit beyond popping out straight. Mates rates quote for fix and spray was $750. But he does a very good job.
