Ive had my VS for a couple of months now and ive been getting 400km out of a tank on 95 octane fuel with the supercharged 6 CAI , the tyres on the car were bald 15" stockies and needed a wheel alignment hardcore.

I have replaced the tyres with 17" rim's and new tyres and a k&n high flow panel filter now im only getting 300km out of the tank whats the deal there ? can any one explain this ? or do i have another problem to find ?

Does the k&n filter make you use more fuel ? is the jump from tyre size by 2" liekly to cause 100km difference in milage ?

You havnt really changed the wheels by 2". The rims are 2" bigger but the tyres have a lower profile than your old 15's so the overall wheel wont be much different. So that wont make a difference to the fuel.

Check your tyre pressures. Should be up around 38 each for 17" wheels. Low pressures will murder your economy.

Also, there's a chance that with a k&n filter and nice wheels, you're giving the car a little more stick ;) I know I would be. That can also drop economy :p

This is a coincidence, mine did the exact same thing when I put my filter in too. I put it down to driving it harder. Maybe there is something behind this, I have a stock filter at home, I might put it in for a while and see what happens.

are the tyres wider it could just be from friction on the road from more tyre surface

No change when I put my filter in. How are you measuring your fuel economy?

i noticed better fuel economy, but I did some other work and I generally don't drive my car that hard.
