The sound would have been cutting in and out because one of the speaker wires would have been earthing. If they earth for long enough, the little amp inside can cook and stop sound completely or kill the unit so it won't turn on.

I'd get the head unit checked by Pioneer and have someone who knows what they're doing to check your wiring :)

Easiest way is just to run new speaker wires :)

Doesn't a VT have Molex plugs in the doors? Need to be a mastermind to get through those!...although I'm no mastermind I think I have the art perfected down to 20 minutes per plug :D

Wish i could, mum lost the USB cable to the camera its just a little black box with a wireing diagram on it and has 5 pins and 12 v tyco writen on it
wiring diagram has 3 parallel circuit with a resister a switch and somthing i dont recognise, box with a horazontal line through it

the head deck goes to my amp then to my sub and speakers from what i can see, i dident hook it up, so im not sure but thats the way it looks no sp-eakers running off the head deck just power a thin red wire (not sure what that does) and this box its a bit of a mess

Can you make it fault with the car stationary? You need to see if the amp is turning off when the fault occurs.
