It seems your all getting worked up over a non-issue. Yes it is stupid that the Executive does not have standar air but Holden never advertisies this model anyway. The Executive 3.6L 4sp Auto is $33,160 without air and $35,410 with air not including on road costs. So much for this $30,990 bullshit.

As for employees pay, Holden production line workers are the second highest paid in the world after the Germans.

As for the transmission issue, it is stupid that the Alloytec 175 is crippled with the crappy 4 speed auto in the sedan and wagon, but the 6 speed Getrag manual is avalable on the LCV range.

VT SS 5.7L Commodore.
You can still get VZ Utes with 6 speed manual. I was at the local Holden Dealership. They just received a VZ ute with the 175kw alloytec. It had a 6 speed in it.
Also, the reason Holden won't put the 195KW in any car lower then the calias or sv6 is to stop every Tom, Dick, and Harry buying executives and asking for the engines in them.
So I assume it would go for the tip tonic as well.
This is why you can't buy a 5.7 in an executive anymore. When Holden first did this their sales dropped in the SS range as everyone was buying executives instead so they stopped it pretty quick.
If you want more fancy things, you going have to pay for it.
I can't see anything wrong with a 4 speed auto anyway. Why would you want an 5 speed automatic, like the 6 speed, don't need 6 gears. Does jack ****.

Even with VN commodores I have only heard of one so far I have come across that had no air conditioner in it.
It's crazy, seriously if someone bought a new Holden today and requested not to have air conditioning are out of their minds. I think even with four cylinders air conditioning comes standard, even though they say free air it's just a sales point. As if you request not to have it the car will come cheaper.

Well if I ever buy a brand new Exec., I'll order it without air conditioning and then have it connected at a specialist. That should save me at least a grand. That way, it'll be easier to afford the manual transmission conversion which Holden wants us all to do 'cause they're too f***wited to do it.

Furiousdude: I think what he meant wasn't about having the 5-speed auto in the Exec., he meant to have it in the Berlina "so the wagon can at last cop a decent tranny", or whatever he said. I'm with him on the manuals though. f*** autos, they're ****, especially the 4-speed unit in the Commodore.

Just one more thing to say: I'm sorry if I offend some people here but if an automatic is all you can handle, then you shouldn't be in a Commodore. Simple.

Actually the rehashed 4speed in the VZ is a lot smoother than VT-VY. It's the new torque converter, but mainly the modified programming in the control unit.

Lol. I love the 5 speed auto's in the VZ as they are very smooth. I have had the manual cars in the past & preferred them than the old 3 speed POS gearboxes, but the new 5 speeds are great.

Then again I do a wide mix of driving, and 50%+ is with cruise control on. Screw driving along, hitting a hill & having to change gears manually, re-engage the cruise control, getting to the top, changing back up, re-engage the cruise control etc etc.

Plus with the new 5 speed, a can sort-of treat it like a manual if I want to hold it in gear longer etc :)

One thing I would like to see is the 190kw engine and 5spd auto as an option in all of the cars. I wanted an Acclaim, but also not the old 4 speed box, and also wanted the 190KW engine - I had to settle for the SV6 to get what I wanted...

Hence why Holden have done the smart thing by only offering that option in the SV6 and Calais. If people really want something, they'll pay extra for it. Intelligent marketing by Holden.

Yeah but the safety features on the Acclaim are not available for the SV6. Things like Electronic Stability Program, Height adjustable front belts, Active front seat head restraints, Electronic Brake Assist, Cornering Brake Control.

I have no problems with these being standard in the Acclaim, but they should be optional in all other models - I would gladly have paid extra for every one of these options on my SV6. Engines are one thing, but additional safety should be optional for all cars.
