hey everyone, just wanted to know whats the best way to sound deaden the boot of a vy commodore(also has a factory ss boot spoiler/wing), so that i don't get boot rattle and to get best sound out of it, its getting a single 12 inch s-type alpine sub woofer and what is the best amp to run this off? (single voice coil sub). cheers, Ben.
Its easy enough to sound deaden your boot, you can get carpet that does it from auto upholstery stores. Another easy trick is to get some thin rubber and stick it behind your license plate and screw the plate on over it. Stops the number plate from rattling.
Thats far from sound deadening the boot champ. There is lots of products you can to deaden the area around the boot lid so it doesnt rattle. I use Dynamat products and even though slightly expensive its worth its weight in gold.
Haha.... get a couple thousand watts into ya car, the whole body will rattle and you'll forget the number plate even exists when your parcel shelf starts bouncing up and down. George: with dynamat, do you just stick it wherever there is an unbraced sheet of metal? and is it worth doubling up in the boot? (DD9915+RFt2000 = car rattle)
forum DD aye Joe UUUUUHHHH I LIKE DD . Now generally i use Sikaflex and put it in the joints so then it bonds the sheetmetal of the boot lid to the frame. Once this is done i apply one layer of Dynamat. This should do the job. I am currently building up a Street C car with a 9918. We are pumping out 147db flat with one D3 and a single 15" crappy woofer, and stock battery under the bonnet. Cant wait to load the D3 down to 0.25 of an ohm. This is where the fun begins .
What sort of price would I be looking at to get enough dynamat or equivalent to do my doors and boot? ps thanks for the quote on the alarm mate, i'll get it sorted in the next month or so
Well a Dynamat bulk pack will do around the $270 mark. There should be plenty there for doors and boot.
ive got tha same problem just wondering if thers a store u can take it to wher they do it thenselves???
