    Hey guys,

So I needed 2 wheels resprayed on my 07 lumina because I scraped a gutter bad.
Anyway I dropped off the rear one and it's been almost a week with the sh**ty space saver on the back.

I hear it's bad for the diff if it is on too long because it is skinnier.
    Any thoughts on this?

I have no idea what it could do, but don't they only have a limit of a few hundred k's at 80kmh?

You're lucky you have a space saver though, as I nearly got stuck with a "Shoosh-Shoosh" spray repair bottle Lol.

Yes they are designed to be used in an emergency only and for short trips. Not for you to get around town with for a week. Would hate to see you trying to drive if it rains.

A temp tyre only. Wouldn't drive it far unless you absolutely have to.

I'm sure someone on here in Melbourne has an extra / spare / loose .... VE wheel in their shed ??? Come on someone help this poor C nut out here.
Those spacesaver's are a joke. Wongy why don't you ring a few tyre shops or dealers and find a 5th full size Lumina wheel for your car ? it would only cost about $150 2nd hand depending on tyre.

Differing widths wont hurt the diff, its different rolling diameters that can cause issues. If the space saver has the same outside diameter as your normal wheels you wont have any issues.

Traction and handling however will be greatly reduced.

Yeah I think I will ring around because it's just a s**t tyre, even just for emergencies.

I stupidly took off a little hard at the lights and it chirped a little.
After that I'm too afraid to go over 80km, even on the ring road.

How long does it take someone to repair gutter marks? my mate does mobile dent and scratch repair and he fixed my missus's damage on 2 of my wheels in less than 2hrs (including 3beers) and they come up brand new! Was no need to even take them off the car.

It was a pretty bad scrape mate. Needed some weld done to it.

So I got the wheel back today. Cost me $220 for a respray and a re-roll. I think they finished it last week but didn't call me.
I got it done at Neway Wheel Repairs in West Heidelberg.
IMMACULATE job, I must say. Looks great!
