Anyone thats interested, Discovery will be blasting off in a few hours: Space Shuttle Mission STS-120 Space Shuttle: Discovery Payload: Harmony Node 2 Targeted Launch Date: October 23 Launch Time: 11:38 a.m. EDT Pad: 39A Space Station Assembly Mission 10A Launch is Wednesday October 24 12:38am AEST NASA TV http://www.nasa.gov/145590main_Digital_Media.asx or NASA TV
I think it will, they're all strapped in ready to go. and it's actually due to launch at 1.38am, not 12.38am!! doh
gotta say that was pretty amazing never seen it like that especially when looking down at earth from the space shuttle... thats the highlight of my day
Thanks for letting me know that was going to happen, I was impressed with the shed they have to put the shuttle on the rockets, 525? feet high roof and 8 acres of floor space. I used to think takeoff in a 747 was a dodgy experience (still do really), but 10,000 miles per hour sitting on a half a million gallons of hydrogen and still accelerating at 3 gs into space gets my respect for all those onboard
STS-122 Launch is planned for 4:31pm Thursday 6th December 2007 (US Time). Friday 7th December 2007 @ 8:31am Australian Time. NASA - Space Shuttle You can watch it here: NASA TV http://www.nasa.gov/145590main_Digital_Media.asx
