sorry bro. just saw an opportunity to take the piss and lept at it. being a mechanic i enjoy watching newbies. just make sure the spark plugs are done up correctly if they dont have gaskets. and best of luck in your learning journey. did you get standard plugs or heavy iridium ones?

Taken from the NASA manual
get the correct size socket
put it on a ratchet or similar
turn the sparkplug anti-clockwise until it comes out
reverse the direction of rotation to fit the new one
after the plug touches the seat, JUST NIP IT UP.
put the lead back on

hey presto done

Ok Baby steps.. *takes a deep breath*

When I open the bonnet I see a thing (yes I know) with a bunch of numbers, numbered from 1 - 6, not in that order. Just above it are little rubber plugs which I can pull off. I've circled them on an image here.

I thought that the metal thing exposed was the spark plug, and a 5/8 is heaps bigger then that.

Where exactly do I put the 5/8?

Thanks

That is the coil pack not the sparkplugs. If you follow the the 6 leads from the coil pack they will lead to the sparkplugs.

Plugs are located on the side of the engine (3 each side) at the opposite end of those leads you are talking about. Pull the leads off and there are your spark plugs.
Tip - Remove only one lead at a time so as to avoid mixing up which lead goes to which cylinder.

Wow, and I thought I had problems:)
OK I found this old thread trying to find out the thread size for a (3.8 VS) compression test kit. I'm sure it's a simple question too, for those in the know. Just want to make sure the kit has the right fittings before I buy it.
