sorry to keep bothering everyone with so many questions but i just hooked up an amp to my car this afternoon, it is only running rear speakers in the boot nothing else, and when i turn it up loud (JVC 25-30) the speakers that were in the car when i bought it intermittently cut out, the front are stock i think the rear are 220w max pioneer 6inch. any idea why? could it be too much bass or too much power for them? Thanks.
It could be to much power to the front stocks, there only about 45 watts, so i'd get new front ones, cause stocks can't handle the amp and short out causing everything else to short out.
He's not running the front speakers.... and stocks speakers are no where near 45watts rms. I check your wiring, its also common for the speaker terminals to earth out on the parcel shelf, and adjust gain setting on the amp, do they crackle or just cut out?
Could be many things...including what vn6pwr suggested. I would also check the power/earth connections, making sure their secure. Is it just the amped speakers or is it all speakers?
You could try hooking the speakers up to the main deck by them self and see if it does it then. If it does then it must be the speakers but if it doesn't either the amp isn't working properly or the speakers are overloading the amp.
did u tape up the original wires that were going to the rear speakers? my guess would be that they're shorting out when it's turned up and the headunit's cracking the shits.
thanks for the help guys, just running off the headunit. i checked the connections and all good on the hu side of things, so mite check everything in the door and i'm installing some 6.5inch components in the front too, so maybe this will fix things. Cheers guys.
sounds to me like somethings shorting out was happening to me wen i disconnected 2 of the 4 speakers off my 4 channel it would let it go but once the volume got to about 30 it would cut out
either the unit is shutting down due to an impedance mismatch or a short. Watch out you down blow your amp.
i've installed my amp properly and tuned with my speakers/sub and i dont need to turn it up so loud that it cuts out now haha. i just have it fading towards the back where my good gear is
You should really think about upgrading the fronts, and amping them instead of the rear shelf speakers, since the driver sits in the front, you want the best quality sound in the front
yeah mate i got some new front 6.5inch splits.. they are a british brand called RISEN not sure if anyone has heard of them but they pump ultra hard and sound awesome.. they are supposed to be 95wrms :yeah: . when i have a spare bit of time i'll take my doors apart and install them. Cheers.
crvee8 and vn6power are on the money. I don't even bother with rear speakers in smaller cars. I will have some in my commodore though for the people in the back. Better quality without them.
thanks. mate. i've sinced put in some 6.5inch components in the doors and re wired them, so no cutting out now. i am looking to buy another amp to power them in the next few weeks. Cheers.
I Picked up a 2x100wrms Lanzar OptiDrive second hand at cash converters for $50! These are excellent SQ amps and weighs nearly as much as my 1100wrms monoblock lol
