Just got a few questions if you guys could answer.

    1) Do all speed camera's flash or are some non-flash?

    2) How long will it usally take for a speeding Ticket take to come from a Camera?

    Stupid Question
3)Will going 120 past a speed camera result in a fine?

    thanks fella's

    Never had one but?

You don't identify the state so it may be a bit hard to give a definitive answer.

For NSW, I have heard that not all speed cameras flash.

I believe that it takes about three weeks for the bad news to arrive in the mail.

If you mean 120 in a 100 zone, then I expect that the most probable answer is yes.

When speed cameras were first introduced, I saw a police display at a local show. They had speed camera and red light photographs on a table. As I was looking at them a young female cop came over, and whispered 78. It took a while to sink in, but I eventually realised that the setting was 78 in a 60 zone.

As time has gone on, the margin allowed over has shrunk. I know a number of people booked at 66 in a 60 zone by camera. I have a neice in the NSW police force who told me that they are allowed to book at 5% over, i.e. 63 in a 60 zone, but rarely go below 10% - 66 in a 60 zone.

A lot of cars have small speedo error, which makes it hard to be sure unless you know your speedo accuracy and the exact speed passing the camera sensor.

Patience will be needed for a while, I guess.

    1) Some cameras flash others don't, it depends on the time of day/conditions etc also.

    2) It can take anywhere up to 28 days to receive your ticket in the mail (address on the registration of your vehicle)

    3) Going past any camera at 120 will result in a fine yes.

A long time ago when Australia first got speed cameras they used a form of radar to trigger the camera called K band. This type of camera had a very slow shutter speed, thus driving past a camera in a 100 zone doing 170+ would render you invisible (the camera would trigger but the speed of the picture would only capture an empty screen). They have since upgraded to a new style of camera that has an almost instant shutter so it will catch you at any speed.

As of right now the government is in talks about lowering the trigger point of mobile radar (the ones on the cars and handheld) to be 3% or lower. Their reasoning behind this is that there are a lot more new cars on the road with less and less speedometer errors from the factory (also it is the owners responsibility to ensure their speedo is accurate). This would mean that a police officer could give you a ticket for doing 61.8 in a 60 zone, this speed is about the width of a hair past 60 on a standard commodore dial.

Anyway if you want more information I'll be happy to go on further.

thanks for the quick reply fella's, and yes i am in NSW sorry about not mentioning it. it was of a night about round 11:45 i would say or maybe later and there was hardly any traffic and my mate came up the side, and i couldnt really resist, so i flogged him round this corner and about 500 yards up the road i slowed down and my mate said "Oi you just got flashed by that camera" so i was like bleep this and bleep that and we stopped at a set of traffic lights about 1km away and i said "you better bleep be joking me" and he said "yeah, but it didnt go off" so there was a speed camera there, but i cant really be to sure of my speed.
So hopefully I am safe :)

  5. Yea, well I hope you learned a little lesson, even if you don't get a ticket mate..(and I hope you don't get a ticket from this..)..might have been a kid instead of a camera.....
