Probably not the correct spot to post this (moderator please move if incorrect) but I do own a VT so why not.

Also I am probably going to cop a flaming, feel free to, I was an idiot - therefore I deserve it. However if you could provide me with some information I'd appreciate it.

Last week, tuesday morning I got done sppeding 76 in a 60 zone on my way to work at 5:30am.

Now as I am on my p2's and already on safe drivers agreement (10 weeks shy of full license after 4 years of probation license :banstick: ) I will be losing my license for 12 months. I have accepted and come to terms with that.

My issue is I have now received a speeding fine in the mail from 3 weeks ago where I was going 61 in a 50 zone - didn't realise I was in a 50 zone but that's not an excuse. This fine is also enough for me to lose my license for 12 months on it's own.

Will I be receiving an extended suspension due to breaching my license rule twice?

Some serious knowledge would be appreciated.

    Cheers

Pretty sure it is only the single 12month term that you will serve.
But I don't know AUS rules,

Good luck, and I hope I am right.

Bets advice I will give for this.
Call up the RTA or whoever enforces the fines and ask them.

Good on you for manning up and accepting the punishment. :beer chug:
I can't tell you how this will work out for you. But I lost my license for 3 months(speeding) almost 5 years ago, and considering my GF didn't have a license, I really learnt what a privilege driving is. Hopefully you can take something away from this too. Best of luck.

    You in April this year:

Hopefully as clearly you never learnt to slow down the first couple of times. A licence is a privilege not a right and maybe after two years of public transports and lifts that might finally sink in.

Thanks for mostly helpful posts. I will be calling motoreg tomorrow and find out my fate, hopefully not extended suspension.

as for clairebear.. I wasn't being a hoon, i was running late for work at 5am and there was no cars, was still in the wrong but no need to be a #### about it, and the other one I buggered up and got the speed limit wrong.

I will be parting with my commodore and getting a road bike.

Don't think you'll be able to ride a bike if your license is suspended. AFAIK if you have both a drivers and riders license and you get suspended for either then you can't use the other.

I think by road bike he means a push bike , it's commendable that you've manned up and taken it on the chin , go in peace and sin no more .

One of my sons got caught out in NSW. On red P's, he got caught by a speed camera. He paid the fine, and in the few weeks it took for them to send out the licence suspension advice, stupidly got caught again. He paid that fine as well (before his initial suspension started) and when his initial suspension was up, got his licence re-instated. Then the few weeks of processing later, he received another licence suspension notice for the second offence.

It appears (in NSW) that a number of offences can be cancelled through one suspension, but it depends on when the fines are paid. If a new fine is paid after issue of a suspension notice, then that earns a new suspension notice.

They're baby offences. You can probably throw yourself in front of a magistrate and pull out a decent result with only penalties if you say/do all the right things.

Worked for me a long time back, these days I'm way more relaxed behind the wheel, too much precious cargo.

Won't be getting a motor bike, will be getting a proper high quality road bike and building up those quads and calves.

Have just spoken to motoreg and the lady guaranteed me with confidence that I would only serve the 12 months suspension as I have not had any other fines since December 2010. Thanks for everybody's helpful input and hopeful wishes, I appreciate it.

The most annoying thing? (Even though I take responsibility for my actions) If the SA government hadn't stuffed up everybody's fines between 2009 - 2011 and disqualified me 10 months later than they should have originally, I would be on my full license now and avoided this issue.

    Live and learn I guess.
