I'd find out what speedo gear you have in g/box then find car that came out with same g/box/gears/wheel combination.

Falcon might be spot on or vn-s would be fairly close to it.

Last option or in addition to above & cheapest would be adjustable potientometer from jaycar once you work out the maths side of it...delcohacking boys should have specs somewhere.

Thanks 07/GTS one problem is my VDO aftermarket speedo has a faulty odometer which as you likely know, has a button beside it that when pushed goes to trip meter and other stuff. Without that working you cant calibrate anything. A replacement is about $400....too much for me ATM. So looking at alternatives. Tony

if u feel able to replace it u can get the display and just swap it over yourself way cheaper then getting new speedo, the new displays are revised also i havnt had one faulty yet

I'll give that a go. Cheers
Tony

Thought I'd add a progress here as this forum has been most helpful.

I've taken out the driven gear (with VDO sender unit). The gear is a 20 tooth item. The gear is for a right hand side (drivers) t5 gearbox. My diff is 2.92 and was 3.7 making the speedo indicate low by 20%. So need a 16 tooth gear RHS.

Found this one on Ebay.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-Mustang-Speedo-Driven-Gear-Speedometer-16-Tooth-Top-Loader-1971-71-72-73/272274551667?hash=item3f64d3f373:g:iQAAAOSw6EpcJZln

The Ford top loader has the same RHS gear direction. The other Fords do not- are meant for LHS.
So here is my gear I'll be replacing.
