    Hey all,
Went to start the car on my VT 5 Litre SS just before and did the usual so called "Cop mode" thingy. Pressed and held the mode and "up" arrow button while turning on the ignition as I've done lots of time before.
Well....What came up in the odometer display? "YES". That's right YES came up, nothing else.
Not knowing what the hell to do and being curious, I pressed mode again. When i did, it seemed to give me an option of what to have on the "normal" display mode. Not "Cop Mode".
Each time I pressed mode, YES came up next to the usual display modes. When it finished scrolling through the options, the display was set.
I didn't loose anything, except the "trip" mode rest to zero. Odometer, fuel remaining, distance thingy and so on were all fine.
I wasn't game to press the up or down buttons while this was going on, for fear I would delete something.

I have spent the last 45 minutes or so trying to duplicate what happened before and for the life of me I can't get it into that "YES" mode again.

Has any one experienced this before.

The only thing I did to the car today was replace the throttle return spring and a clamp on the PCV valve.
I didn't disconnect the battery or do anything electrical to the car.

Were you hitting the right button? You could have been cycling through the reset screen, or the display screen. I've done it before, cant remember how i did, but if you hit either the up or down arrow, it will change it to a no, and then hitting mode will cycle to the next screen. And from here you can choose which options you see when you cycle through "MODE" when the car is just running normally.

Cant really explain it properly, but i've done it before.

I'm sure I was pressing the right buttons. But if I didn't, I would love to know what button(s) or sequence I pressed, or what the hell I did.
What you have explained is what happened, except I didn't press the arrow buttons. Wasn't game :)

Sorry i couldnt be more descriptive, havent owned a VT for over a year. Memories a bit fuzzy. Somebody else might be able to explain it better if they're game to go out and have a play with their car, or they've done it before.

Set the speed alert in my Aunty's ex cop VY Alloytec Wagon. Did the same thing. Basically you can customise the dash display. Digital speedometer, speed alert, a few more items. You can turn them on or off.

    Thanks guys.
    Yay.....Figured it out. :)
Press and hold the "MODE" button while turning the ignition on.
I must not have pressed the arrow button properly before.
