Hey guys/gals, Ever since I had my manual conversion (don't think this is relevant though), sometimes my cluster goes abit berserk. I could be sitting on 80K's, then randomly the needle will jump up from 60-120 and randomly go all over the joint, while the digital stays the same (this happens for like 10 seconds) Happens on a rare occasion though but it's still got me stumped. A few days ago it did it again but the digital was ####ing around too so i just had to stick with traffic for the 10 seconds it was going all weird... The first time I noticed anything ever happen was when it was Auto, and i put it into second gear and accelerated to overtake - the needle went from like 50 to 120 so fast it was believable.. Then when i stopped at the lights the needle was stuck on 40kph.. I had to turn the ignition off 3 times before it went back to 0 (as when you turn it off the needle drops). I have no idea if the cluster has had enough or something isn't sending right or whatever. The rev's never stuff up, only the speed. I thought about the speed indicator sensor but why would the needle do it and then not the digital? Any thoughts please embrace haha.
VY's dont have a "cog" like the VS before it. So nope not that. It could be just the cluster itself with a faulty connection or resistor thing.
Haha just noticed i spelt the title wrong too.. Fail. Yeah I'm not too sure.. But i definitely know there's no cogs - It's all electronic so.. hmm..
there is a few vy clusters for sale on the forum so dont forget to check it out if you need a new one
Yeah I was looking at a VY SS in blue one, slightly lower ks. Only thing is it'll be green lighted, mines blue.
have you tried the trick where you turn your key to acc and hold mode and set down (havent done it in ages so cant remember how to do it, just search for vy hidden settings in the forum/google) doing this trick temporarily blacks out the computer display while blipping all the needles on the dials to there home/centre positions. on the speedo the needle should blip to 100ks. not sure what this does but if you get a funny blip for example it goes to 140ks instead of the 100ks where it should go then this might indicate that there is something wrong with the calibration. if everything is correctly set when doing this trick all needles go to there centre position, example temp goes to dead centre, so does the fuel gauge ect.
Never actually heard of that; If you know what that setting is called please tell me and I'll look it up.
If the issue started right when you went to manual the issue will lie in something that was done during either the wiring or speedo pulse reference values in the tune (assuming something was done on the tune???)
