Hello all,

What are some injuries people have had?

When I started running (2007) I got IT Band syndrome, patella Femoral syndrome, bursitis (in upper part of shin)

In training for 2012 Canberra marathon got a really bad case of IT Band syndrome

After Canberra I got a small Piriformis Sydnrome case; then a few months after that I got trigger point issues in LH Thigh.....

Right now I have priformis again. Is literally a pain in the bum...a small muscle tightens, strangles the sciatica, causing some mild issues. Seeing physio next week about it. Haven't stopped training though.

front shin from offing for no reason what-so-ever, just being a fkn retard:

rotor burn from the above "being a retard" off, only this was a double retard cos' i forgot that i had been travelling at 50+kmph previous to me coming off and that brake rotors tend to get very HOT. my first thoughts? "oh handlebars are bent, ill just stick my legs either side of the wheel and.... ARRRRRRRRGGGH!!!!"

this was at you-yangs. took a really dumb line over a drop. wouldve been a good line if there wasnt a giant rock right where my front wheel landed. anyway, it doesnt look bad but it actually chipped my elbow:

Had a bad neck scare while playing Rugby League, I was in the front row for the Northern Devils. Having a pre season practice match with the Baby Broncos, their reserve grade players. We were all looking to dominate them because if we showed them up some of us mightve got a call up.

I was in the front row, gone in for the scrum and usually scrums are a waste of time and effort in league. We went to push them back, someone buckled and it took all 6 front rowers from both teams straight to the ground. I got spiked on my head. I pinched a nerve in my spine. Wasnt major but was a massive scare.

Moved to Melbourne, started playing Gridiron. Dislocated my knee and my lower leg suffered a compound fracture. That took me almost a full year to become mobile again and even to this day Im a bit wary on it. Doesnt hurt but the metal pain and doubt is still there.

Apparently I am never allowed to play Sport again.

Ive got a friend who used to play for Harlequins Rugby down here and I went to one of their games the other month, they want me to play for their seniors team. Really want to go and play, but I rekon Ill play it safe haha.

Achilles tendon snapped about 10 years ago while playing rugby , pain excruciating I was in a sort of moon boot and hobbling on crutches for what seemed like forever , occasionally now it gives a bit of pain , usually on cold days , or if I don't stretch it .

ive always wondered, did they have to stitch it back together? or does it heal itself?

It does require surgery.

About ari666's grazes - have had similar to those whilst running.....Wednesday evening the local runners club does a 2.88k handicap time trial around a park in Orange (0.96k loop, done 3 times). With up to 120-140 people going at once, including walkers and small children (and we share it with the public) on a 0.96km course, widely differentiation in speed, incidents occasionally happen. Have gone arse over tit 3 times; once I clipped a walker who wasn't keeping to the left (fundamental club safety rule), and twice I have gone into child members of the public who weren't under control of their parents (we have a blind corner, track is obscured by a bridge barrier, can't see kids and dogs here). We are all having a go (Running at 4:25-4:40/km), and on a slippery surface sometime its hard to pull up....

Some of the runs the club does are on firetrails; these are rough and slippery. A friend once tripped over, fell and broke his wrist; another competitor cut his knee on a sharp rock after falling. Another guy (who was pretty gun...) once tripped over his shoelaces!

Bah well the piriformis was just getting worse and worse, taking next few days off running. May need to take longer. I have allowed myself another 11 days to get over it; if I can I will still do the marathon. If not; looks like I'll be cutting back to do the half. Will still be doing 30-40 min crosstraining daily though, did it yesterday and it didn't really aggravate anything.....
