Just out of the 3 year warranty by a month!

Hatch soft close feature working fine 3 or 4 times then failed on the next time, all on same day.
Possibly there was something prevebnting it from fully shutting.
Now I have to slam the hatch like the old days!!

From googling, it appears the self close is done by an electric motor,
so I suppose the first suspect is a blown fuse, second a stripped gear and third a blown motor?

I'll have to read the manual and find where the fuses are

Appreciate any advice on this, especially how to get access. Removing the 2 torx bolts on the bottom doesn't remove the black plastic part because it's moulded to the interior covering

I can gamble on this because I don't have a lot of skin in the game ... I'm with Trofius on it being a sensor problem of some sort.

One month out of warranty, I'd still be speaking to the dealer and Holden's Customer Service Department about goodwill warranty as the Manufacturer’s Warranty is overruled by Australian Consumer Law which means you can expect a component to last longer than just past the warranty period.

In short they have to fix it.

Don't you really mean 'THEY MAY CHOOSE TO FIX IT' !!!

Spot on panhead, it pays to know the Australian consumer law, and the rights it gives us

Panhead is spot on, just out of warranty should be either repaired or fixed. If the dealer or Holden Customer Care don't do either, go to Fair trading to resolve the issue.

No mate they have to fix it.

A Manufacturer's Warranty means absolutely nothing under Consumer Law.

If you worked at a Senior level in any major manufacturing company you would have had to deal with the ACCC at some stage and they and your lawyers would have pointed out to you that the only true warranty is the Consumer Law Legislation.

The manufacturer's talk of voiding warranty but that's just to bamboozle those who don't understand their rights.

Not to fix it is a breach of the law.

Most large manufacturers (including those that only import from the overseas parent companies) employ in house Consumer Law Specialists plus have others that specialise in fiddly aspects on retainers as the ACCC is very active, it just goes un-noticed by the general public.
