I am looking at some youtube videos of spud guns and they look pretty cool and easy to make. But they're all in America. Are they legal in Australia? Coz I really want to make one.

Had a quick search says they are legal in most states and territories not legal in Victoria though

    Illegal as follows:

All combustion spud guns are considered firearms.

    * In the state of Victoria (Australia), pneumatic spud guns require a Category A firearms license, while combustion spud guns require a Category E firearms license.

Are you talking about the little guns that fire small chunks of potato, or the pvc pipe cannon type things that fire the whole potato with compressed air...?

If its the first one, I'd take a stab at saying they're legal in all states, but if its the latter, I have to imagine it would be classed as a firearm of sorts, (requiring some sort of permit?) being an air powered... cannon? lol, or launcher...
Most likely illegal in all states except canberra, cause they can have all the good stuff... lol

EDIT: Just saw Sashyre's post, what she said :p

Had a combustion spud gun a few years back that we built ourselves. Shooting it down the river in the open away from anyone when the Cops pulled up, warned us and confiscated the gun. Luckily we were cooperative and apologetic as I believe we could have been in it really deeply as it is considered a fire arm and could be a deadly weapon.

We built one out of pvc pipe, big enough for tennis balls.. we used a hell of alot of deoderant cans to shoot these balls lol.
We were about 200kms from civilisation down a river where I used to work on a Station... good times.

Start Ya Bastard works best I have found. You only need a tiny bit as well and it goes off with a hell of a bang. But thanks to our nanny government they are of course illegal.

    +1!!

i've found the same, the stuff you would never consider giving to someone to actually use for their hair.

Trouble with the hairsprays and deodorants is that they leave gummy crap stuck inside the chamber.
