Have a VU. The rear rear brake on drivers side has an annoying squeak. Only at a certain point on the disc im thinking. Not constant, just a squeak squeak as it rotates. Seems to come and go. Think it may be a build up of brake dust?
Os it a common problem? How to avoid it? Maybe different compound pad??

It sounds more like your rotors are getting a bit old, would be best to replace them with some new pads, there cheap to fix mate.

Could be a bit of gravel stuck between the pad and rotor. Some pads have a metal wear indicator that scrapes on the disc and makes a squeaking noise when the pads are worn down.

I reckon it'll be the handbrake. Try applying the handbrake while slowly moving and see if the sound goes away. Holden sell an "anti-scrape kit" which consists of a bracket and spring to move the handbrake shoe back in to place to stop the squeak.

I had the same problem, was my pads, they were wearing the corners away and not wearing evenly, just replaced them and all good :)
