I didn't say they did.

Its just another way of basing the lever arm. That's the standard setup from 427 BB ford. Chrysler have a similar setup. If you go aftermarket they're mounted the same way and have roller tips in them.
They're called roller rockers.

Point is, its commonly accepted that roller rockers are roller tipped.

I know what the valve gear is off I just couldn't see any roller bearings on it and didn't know what the relevance of the pic was.

On the note of the roller tip saga, I understand what your saying doesn't mean it's accurate though. If a rocker arm has a functional rolling element bearing, to say it's not a roller rocker cause it's in the pivot/trunnion isn't accurate. It's not there for looks, it's job is to reduce friction as the rocker rocks about. Might not be in the place where people may perceive as normally being but it has it's pros and cons an mentioned earlier.

So what does that count as?

Mitsi 6D16 run almost an identical setup to that, there are no rollers in it.

They are just shaft mounted rockers.

Yeah I know they're shaft mounted rockers.
(That's what I googled to get the picture :D)

My point was you can get them after market with roller tips.
They're called roller rockers like anything else, not shaft mounted roller tipped rockers.

Just as Ecotec rockers aren't roller rockers with roller tips.

Just thought I'd contribute this thesis on the difference between rockers and roller rockers. Written by Eric Palomaki and Kyle Hoffman from the Polytechnic Institute, New York.

http://www.rpi.edu/~des/Rocker_Report.pdf

A common roller tipped rocker has been known for as long as I've been around engines and cars as the classic 'Roller Rocker'.

Have a serious read through this.
