Just reading through all the drive.com pages on the VE, says Holden claims the VE SS/SS V will do 0-100km/h in 5.4s for the 6sp auto, slighty slower for the manual...what's the claimed VZ time? Which one's quicker???

They're a bloody quick family car aren't they...and not that expensive when comparing against similar imports.

I think the 5.7L VZ with 250kw was 0-100 in 5.84 seconds... So the Gen IV version was slightly quicker i guess i with 260kw.

the ve's are also 270 kw im pretty sure, coz the vz series 2 was 260 with a gen iv

The wheels time I fond from 2004 was a 5.9 second run 0-100. Obviously the Gen III, so perhaps the 260kw Gen IV was 5.6 or so. I think the 0-100 time would only be fractionally quicker for the VE SS cause of the extra weight, but I think it would be quicker still. Also the 6 speed auto would outperform the 4 speed.

Having a hole into the gearbox so you can reach in and change gears with your hand would out perform the 4 speed auto! :D lol

Doesnt it seem like the VE SS SS-V will be a hot car around up to 140kp/h. Off the mark speed will be huge, And that torque will hide it's high end weakness that the lower gears will give it. People might never notice. The 6 speed might cover it easy.
The HSV boys with T-X-Y series will be shitty:D

What sorta difference will there be in diff gears though? Will there be a difference?

The VE SS speedo goes up to 280km/h... so I dont think top speed will be hurt much. Also peak power comes higher in the rev range now, so I think top end power will actually be better with the VE SS
