    VE SSV G8 Special Edition
    Hi All

I've just purchased a SSV G8 Special Edition see attached photos,
Its a manual, I swaped the boot around with another SSV they had in stock as I preferred the larger SSV Spoiler. I've also added tinted windows, she's now travelled 3000kms. (as at 29 July 2010)

I traded my chipped, VY SS Hothouse Green, Sedan, Manual, Leather trim and factory Sunroof for her.

I was wondering if anybody would know the build numbers? -

Update I now have the build numbers for the Wildfire Colour. 29 built in total, 21 Auto & 8 Manual.

From the original brochures 500 Red, 500 Black and 500 Blue with a further limited run in Feb/March 2010.

    Cheers

    Greg

    VE SSV Ute Special Edition

    Hey Greg,

I am quite interested in this as well as i have the blue ute in the Special Edition.

Also what made you decide to add on the spoiler. I quite like the integrated spoiler on the Pontiacs/ Special Editions and give them a geniune point of difference in the rear when compared to a standard ss or ssv. ANyways congrats on your purchase and hope someone can give you a number

Thanks, in answer I simply preferred the full spoiler, the front end is awesome but the back end started to remind me to much of a Calais so it had to go.

The dealer said it was 50/50 amoung the buyers out there on the rear spoiler, I was just lucky or unlucky dependant on your point of view :p that there was one available with the same model and colour in stock, especially as the wildfire metalic colour is now deleted from the range.

    Cheers

car looks good, i think the limited numbers holden said is a bit of a joke as you can option the g8 gear now for 1grand extra, but having said that the hero colours such as wildfire would be rarer than say a black, red, or white

G'day Greg, I have a Poison Ivy sportwagon, theres a few posts kicking about on here about it when i was waiting for it to be built, anyway, there doesn't seem to be much info about on the "other" coloured G8's. I think i'll just contact GMH and get the build numbers from them. Be sure that you get your build data sheet from the dealer though, it may be worth something in the future as, despite what Vicarious says, they are not common.
    Cheers

Holden have never had build numbers on their models. All they'll tell you is the total number of a certain model.

What's the difference between a normal SSV and this one? Besides the front looking pretty?

    Nothing.
These special editions just had the left over Pontiac G8 aero kits on them after GM killed off the Pontiac brand.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I 'think' that if you had bought the Pontiac G8 in the States it had AFM (called Displacement On Demand or DOD there) where as that feature came in a little later in Oz?
Of course they never sold the wagon or the ute in the US so those ones are 'unique' to Australasia.
I wonder why the ute never made it there - we North Americans absolutely love the El Camino and something like the Maloo would just be the hugest thing ever. Stupid marketing instead gave the Chevy SSR which is so not cool.

Time to revive an old thread!

I bought one of the "other" coloured SSV Special Editions in Poison Ivy, ordered in early January and delivered in late March 2010. http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/ve-wm/132378-ods-new-poison-ivy-g8-ssv-sportwagon.html
    http://forums.justcommodores.com.au...ary-build-ss-ssv-come-g8-option-standard.html

At the time the salesman told me that it was the only Poison Ivy one made, of course as the years and kilometres passed I've seen 1 other PI wagon in Sydney, a PI Sedan in Mudgee I almost bought so I'd have a matching pair LOL, a PI ute in Brisbane and another PI wagon in Hobart. I'm sure there's more.

I have tried to get the build numbers from Holden but no dice. What I'd like to know, if anyone can help me is where the OP got the data on the Wildfire cars from? I'd love to know the final numbers just for my own info.

Interestingly about the same time as I got my wagon one of the locals in Cobar picked up a Wildfire SSV with a standard SS boot spoiler, I doubt the OP's car is the same one, but a curiosity anyhow. At one stage we had three different colour G8's in Cobar, I never got a chance to take a pic of the three together though.

    Cheers

    OD

Yup there was the initial 2009 run of 1500 cars, these were in Blue, Black and Red and it was a $1000 option (from memory) In Feb 2010 GM decided to make all SSV's with a G8 nose etc for the Feb build as I mention in the link below. Because of the limited February run there are a number of Wildfire, Poison Ivy, and White G8 Special Editions floating about.
