how the hell can they squeeze that much from power ??
i mean..take a look at a new HSV LS2 ....6.2L and no where near it...

Because the base cost of the AMG motor to the manufacturer is probalby $35,000 or more whilst the HSV motor is around $2,000 or less.

Bingo!

Nothing wrong with the LSx engines. But as standard they're fitted to cars that cost less the 100k. So they're aren't going to spend 2/3 the value of the car on a motor.

The AMG is an exotic car, the SSV is not. You can make a 5.7 pull 500hp, its been done before. So a 6.0 or 6.2ltr will do it no worries. It's all money.

I would LOL.

Not all mercs are built to go that fast. The basic run of the mill Mercs are expensive commodores IMO. As far as performance goes anyway.

mate all you need is to be geared right and you can sit on any speed comfortably, most new cars these days have enough power and torque, the difference is how long it takes you to get upto speed
