2007 VE Berlina
Hi all,

I bought my car last Feb, a 2007 VE Berlina. For the first 6 mths everything was ok then the engine light started coming on, took it to the people who put my gas on, (which was about 3 mths after I bought it) they would just say maybe its a bad batch of gas. It happened quite a few times after this, sometimes it would go away by itsself sometimes they would make it go away. Anyway a few weeks back all of a sudden I had ABS fault, Stability Control Off and Engine light coming on all at once. Took it to Holden and they told me it needed full replacement of all brakes, apparently they were so bad that they couldn't even be machined, and something else that I can't remember was also wrong. They were going to charge me $1200. My hubby said no way and we took it to a bakes specialist and he machined them and replaced the brake pads for $440. He said if the lights come back on bring it back. That was about 2-3 weeks ago. Nothing has happened in the last couple of weeks. Until this afternoon, when I was moving my car into my driveway from the road and the ABS light and Stability light came on again.

So what do I do now? Take it back to the brakes guy? Go whinge at Holden? Charge my battery? I'm a little over it all.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Kate.

get battery checked, mine had similar issues, no faults now, get the right battery (there are 2-one for the 6 and one for the 8) does it struggle a bit when cranking over or slow cranking? the VE does have a battery drain on it and this can lead to a slightly lower battery voltage, supposedly a software fix was/is available from holden, usually done when serviced, hooked up and updates installed etc

Yep. Firstly, ask the gas people if they found out what the fault code was. They should know if they managed to clear it. If they can't help, take it to a battery place to check the battery. If it's older than 3 years, it's probably past its best anyway. VE's REALLY don't like old or flat batteries. After that, try to run it on petrol instead of gas to see if the fault re-appears. If it doesn't, it's probably a gas problem - back to the LPG fitters. If it does reappear, then it will be a car problem that Holden is probably best equipped to deal with.

Good luck.

Forget all of that ^^^ that fault code that your getting (ABS and Stability) is very common. A wire has come loose on one of the wheel sensors. A scanning tool should tell you what wheel, it's normally the rear left wheel. No need to be changing all the brakes. It's a dealer issue. If you got an extended warranty it will cover the repairs.

I have the exact same problem.

Decimator, the only difference with mine is it is now a constant Check Engine warning, the ESP and ABS warnings aren't coming up anymore. Would you think it is still the same issue?

Hmm, I'll find out soon. I think my mechanic has one, it's going in on Tuesday for it's first service since I've had it. So he'll have a look then, was just wondering if others had the same issues.

Yea I'd say it might be the 02 sensors as well as the loose wire on the wheel sensor. How's your fuel
Economy?
