Ok i installed my stage 2 shift kit (transgo) and corvette servo (4L60E) the other day and a couple of problems have arisen. I think it might just be a 2nd gear problem. Ok normally when im goin 80, put my foot down, it easily goes into second. after the shift kit install, it will just not kickdown to second. it has once or twice, its just random whether it does or doesnt. and the biggest annoyance is, it takes forever to shift up to second, even on very light acceleration. (from standstill). even if i am going from 0-60 in about ten seconds, it wont change to second until about 5000-5500rpm. evn downhills, if i am accelerating very lightly, it does not want to change to second!! Is there any common thing that people do wrong that can cause this?? please someone help it is so annoying!!
well if noone knows what the problem is, then could someone at least tell me which parts may be responsible for the problems?
im sure the servo is in properly, and yes it does the same if i manually shift. it doesnt really do the whole manual shift thing it is supposed to. using the shifter does the same thing as b4 the install. and "woteva", please dont be a dooche i need to know what specific part of the trans is responsible for these symptoms. although im sure u knew exactly what i meant. its really frustrating because it wasnt the easiest thing to do pulling the valve body and seperator plate out in my tiny garage in the first place. now i have to get back in there to fix it. does anyone know any good auto trans guys on here i could talk to?
my recommendation would be take it to a trans specialist. With my stage 2 (standard servo) it only holds the gears slightly high in the rev range than normal. Im going back for the bigger servo though lol
ahh i hate having people work on my car. may be the only option. unless someone else knows what part it may be? im guessing it has something to do with the 1-2 shift valve but that doesnt explain the lack of kickdown from a higher gear
1-2 shift and kickdown has got to do the servo it holds the band releases it etc. thats all the vette servo changes so i still reckon it could be that if its not effecting other gears
VSIIBerlinaL67, i owe u one mate. went out and re installed the 'vette servo, she drives like a dream. cheers for the help evryone. except "woteva".
aye mate just curious as to how hard the servo and kit was to install? I am looking at gettin them both done and wouldnt mind doin em myself, do i need any specialist tools and is it at all possible you could do a short how to or rough write up on it? Cheers Jack
Hey buddy. It wasn't hard, just took a lot of time. and was in an awkward position being under the car. the best way to see how hard it is and what is involved is by watching the video here: http://www.transgo.com/Video/4L60E.zip it helped me heaps. If you do decide to do it then check out these guys: eBay Store - Oregon Performance Transmission: 4L60E, TH 700R4 4L60, TH 2004R. they are in america and i got the shift kit and corvette servo from them for 170 delivered. ur payin about 300 for that if you buy it from aus. hope ive helped!
hey mate how was the servo put in wrong...i tried to fit one to my car but now it wont shift any higher than 2nd.
well as stated before i installed it in conjunction with a shift kit. in the shift kit it has 2 springs to choose from for a certain valve, and i chose the wrong one,(one is for use with corvette servo and one is for use with stock servo), i chose the spring for the stock servo and it turned out that it didnt quite work properly.i couldnt be stuffed redoing the shift kit so i just put the stocker servo back in. still shifts hard as!! my advice is to reinstall the corvette servo. its a lot easier the second time. just double check everything is in the right order, direction and then see how she goes. is that all you have changed? since the shifts went sour?
