when i push down on the accelerator the revs always seems to be around the 3k mark and my vp ss holds onto the gear for a long period then changes at 4k rpm, i find it annoying when im cruzing along and my car is holding onto the gear with dear life until it changes at 4k and is not normal to me as i change gear around 3k in my vt.

i listen to the 5ltr stateman across the road, and it goes up in revs smoothly and changes gears smoothly
(i have a shift kit so mine doesnt change gears so smoothly)
i dont seem to get as much power off the mark, compared to my vt 5 speed, is this normal?

Yeah sounds like a Kickdown cable issue, just adjust it and it wont hold the dears, as for power not being there compared to you VT, it should be although both cars arnt manual or auto and 2 completly different cars.
