Entirely possible you have a buggered pump or sender.

Again, a diagnostic device will be able to probe those circuits and find out if that’s the problem.

So it turns out. The issue was a dodgy fuse on the mirror,cruise,engine one. Replaced that and the fuel pump read as soon as key was turned. No errors and fired straight away.
