I have just replaced my vs engine with a 2nd hand lexcen motor of the same type, the problem is that now the starter motor wont fit, it hits the ring gear:bang: every thing else lines up perfectly the block to the bell housing, the engine mounts were no problem to line up, the only difference is the gap between the ring gear and block.

I managed to nut it out, there was a small difference in the ring gear so out came the motor again, and gear box just for the fun of it. I joined them up out of vehicle and will put them in as one unit so to do away with the hastle of trying to line them up. Aparrently there are 2 or 3 types of starters. Thanks for the info.
