Has anyone got any ideas when a car does not turn over that good when warm? No codes...every thing that I can possibly think of has been replaced...

If the plugs are faulty that would do it cold and warm right?
Holden could not diagnose the problem...I thought they could but all they did was charge me over the things I have already checked done. :bang:

It seems like it doesn't want to fire straight away when it does it takes a while to crank and splatters...second turn of the key it starts fine although the revs are a little on the high side.
I have tried to live with it but its getting me wired.
It does sound electrical...Could the starter motor be turning over too quick when warm some how?

    Cheers.

how olds the battery? it takes more CCA's to start a hot engine then a cold one cause the starter motor is hot so there's more resistance in the windings which means it draws more current. check the mean cable to starter also and make sure there are all good clean tight connections at the battery terminals and earths too

I'd be checking the wiring going from the battery to the starter motor, there is a high possibility that it could be worn out or burnt out, from the old starter drawing excess current when hot. I had the same sort of issue with my old starter, it would basically crank one crank, then pause, then continue starting the engine. I had the unit replaced, and new wiring put in, and it was fine after that. The resistance of the old wiring just went off the scale when hot, so that was contributing to the problem.

Did Holden acknowledge that there was a problem? and they could not fix it?

From what you describe the starter lacks the power to crank the engine fast enough when hot. Generally this is because the pistons become tighter in the bores during the heatsoak of a hot shutdown, (rather than any heat related problems with the starter) and if the battery is down and out, may not be able to meet the current requirements required. What tests have been done on the battery? If none, perform this simple test......using a digital multimeter record the voltage across the battery terminals when cranking/attempting to crank when the motor is hot. If the voltage is somewhere between 10-11Volts this represents the typical load expected on the battery. If it is below 10V, the battery is weak and could be the cause of the probs. If it is above 11V, something is not engaging properly in the starter circuit......could be connections in lead from battery to starter. What Ive suggested to test here is the most elementary checks of what the dealer should have done and assumed that they would have to try and pinpoint the problem here.

Holden seemed to have no idea where to start...They just wanted to check all things I have already. They wanted my car for a long while but I think they just wanted to take my money. Never liked dealing with them. There all nice when you buy a new car, but when you try to get it fixed they charge you like there is no tomorrow and don't fix anything.
Awhile ago when I got my key done, I saw one of the holden dealers spin the wheels in my car and sounded like he red lined it... That was just one bloke I sorta had second thoughts with... I went to school with him.
Sure, holden dealers are good people just this one mongrel that should have been making coffee...

Anyway... checked fuel side of things, all good...thinking its electrical things. Yeah maybe the resistance in the wire going to the starter is too high. The starter seems to be turning over extra quick when warm. The battery is brand new. 470CCA rating I think. There are no dramas with it.

Might check the cable out. and go from there...

    Cheers for the thoughts guys...
