Hey guys, this has only happen a handful of times since i got this car, but when i turn the key to start the engine i would hear a "ting" (similar sound of two hollow pieces of metal hitting each other/ something like this) sound and the car wont start for around 2 seconds before it starts.

i think it might be the battery but i am not sure. i got this car into the mechanic to see if he can find faults but it is in great condition so far. it would be hard to diagnose since it happens at random but what do you think it could be?

Starter motor/solenoid is most likely, but just make sure your battery terminals are clean, and the clamps clean and tight. As long as your battery is ok, if it's not you will start getting all sorts of strange issues soon.

Same thing happens on quite a few VZ and VE V6 engines. It's probably the starter motor getting old and sticky.
