Yeah, tint windows would give more good look and give it a luxury feel and darker legal as possible. Better take old tint asap then put new tint in when you can :p

I've got pedder's sportsryder struts and springs all round on my statey with nolathane bushes and I just get the teeniest bit of tyre tuck at the rear with 19's.

also feelsgoodman, well better than what it had before.

My daily was t-boned on my way to work yesterday morning so it will be in the crash shop for the next month or so......which means the statesman is my daily for the next month.

So decided to do some preventative maintenance as I know a 304/20 year old car isn't going to be an ideal daily driver reliability wise. (especially when I average 150km per day)

    Todays jobs:
    * New Rotors, Pads, Brake Fluid
    * Changed Plugs to Bosch Platinum Plus plugs (been wanting to try these for a while, seem pretty good, much better than the $2 NGK crap that was in there before)
    * Changed Oil
    * Degreased the small rear seal and sump leaks......if I can't see them they don't exist hehe

Fingers crossed I don't get any dings/scratches while the car is being daily driven (I try to park over the other the end of shopping centers etc but never seems to work)

We've got Midnight Express on our family car. Looks good from the outside and easy to see out of from the inside.

Mine will be 18 in December and it's my daily although I would average around 60km per day.

Well the old girl survived 3500km of daily use the last 3 weeks.

Promised myself this fortnight none of my wages are going towards the car, the last 7 months I have pumped too much money into the car and not enough into finishing my renovations......although the ebay/repco bug is trying so desperately to get me.

Friend photoshopped on some white walls, I think they would look good......a little worried about the cop attention in SA at the moment (lot's of defect stations out) so I have decided not to lower it or do the cam until the heat is off......if I get defected it will be a couple of grand to get it passed through inspection.

Entire car is now nolathaned, loving the handling through the back roads near my place.

Also invested in a new timing light, I had never checked the timing since the engine was dropped in......it hasn't felt great or sounded very good compared to other 5L's I have driven so I whacked the timing light on it and the workshop had set the base timing to 17 degrees advanced BTDC so the spark was way out.....put it back to 10 degrees then gave it another 2 degrees for 98 fuel and it is like a new car.....I'm assuming the workshop that dropped the motor in just turned the dizzy until the engine fired and never bothered to check it....I am very lucky the motor still runs after running 5 months with that much advance.

Good to see it survived as daily.

what is common about these engine if it isn't very reliable engine?

Very reliable engine , just a bit outdated in terms of power and economy . But the sound they make is 100 times better then the newer LSX engines

True that, my fuel is paid for by the company so economy didn't bother me. (infact in the first week I went through 4 tanks)

It's not the engine that's unreliable its the rest of the car being so old (e.g suspension and driveline components)

Only thing that went wrong is a uni joint has started getting some play so that will have to be done sometime soon

If anything I would only be lowering the front, the photo is deceiving....there is actually heaps of clearance in the front guard which annoys me.

The back I don't want to lower as the guard is sitting flush above the tyre (I don't like tyre tucking) and the front I would like the same, just above the tyre.

But at the moment there is dozens of defect stations set up around Adelaide, and weekends leaving Adelaide and arriving into my town at approx 3-4AM I am the only one on the road in a town with 4-5 police cars on patrol all the time I am a target so needs to stay relatively stock for now :/

    Thanks mate,

Went out with my photographer again last weekend, he is just editing the photos then I will upload them.

Got some photos of the interior for a change, it's amazingly clean.....looks like nobody has ever sat in it.....perfectly preserved.......the cleanest example I have ever seen for a car of its age

Interior pics.....all stock except for the headunit and that's how it will stay
    [IMG]

Also this happened today....probably bumped the volume up around 15db (hopefully still within legal limits) but boy did it change the sound...so much nicer.

A little bit of drone up top due to not having a resonator but down low it sounds it really starts to throb like a V8 should now, if I can be bothered I will hook the go pro up over the weekend and get a vid.

Next job is to get rid of the ugly black statesman badge on the bootlid

    Updates:
Ended up getting rid of the 18's.....they were just too boy racer for me, ended up sourcing a set of VS Calais wheels (I wanted either polished VS Calais or VS caprice to give it that classy look) and set about polishing them and cleaning up the surface scratches etc, 19 hours later they are done, not quite happy with the result so when I need new tyres I will strip them off and take them to a commercial metal polisher.

Sneak pic as the long saga began (will get photos over the weekend)

Well I got the rear hot dog installed last week, which made a difference, it made the exhaust much deeper and meatier which is good.

It's getting better now its carboned up a bit.

It's getting a lot of drone in cabin but nothing that can be heard from outside, had a mate take it for a drive and I could hear nothing but sweet exhaust note from the outside, which is the main thing (I would rather have the drone in the cabin than on the exterior and make everyone I drive past pissed off from the sound, I am a considerate bloke like that)

Thinking of dynamatting the boot area as people in the US with in cabin drone do this and seems to work quite well.
