What are the differences and which pad goes inner and which goes outer?
[/QUOTE] most pads will be labled where they are positioned.

The difference is the studs on the backing plate, labelled along the edge of backing plate.

That's why so many people stuff it up. Fronts are definitely inner & outer, rears are not

Incorrect also - rears are also labelled inner and outer - just installed a set of genuine gm pads into the rear of my ve wagon and they were definitely labelled

Yep that’s it! I just checked and I had them in right way round. I must have realised at the time there were inner and outer but just totally forgot.

For anyone else concerned they may have installed them wrong way round, you can easily look through your rim at the caliper and pad and see two pins, side by side. If you don’t see them side by side, they will be hidden by the caliper and the pad won’t sit flush inside the caliper.
