My wheels a bit noisy

the rubbing noise sounds right behind the steering wheel

the shoes on the rack arent leaking, there no leaks under the car, the power steer resevior does have a slow loss rate though

but the noise is just rubbing coming from inside the car

could it be something more

Think its where it goes through the firewall. Needs a spray.

Wombles is correct - the noise can be fixed by spraying with WD40 or similar the steering shaft where it passes through the firewall - there is a plastic grommet that dries out. Access is best from under the car. Re the slow loss of PS fluid, try adding some PS stop leak - this works wonders.

cheers guys

with the slow leak ive heard the ps pump has a gasket that can be changed?

also got a noise with the revs, could be the alternator, but could be the ps pump, but sounds like a windmill when I accelorate

well got under the dash, found the cap thing that bolted to frewall via 2 nuts

yep the noise is coming from there, sprayed grease on it, tried to undo the 2 bolts and slide the cap back (to get more grease into it) but guess its not built that way

noise rubbing still exists but hopefully a couple of drives it will seep through

If u get a can of WD40, all u lave to do is get under the dash (u may need to remove a plastic garnish) the straw attachment is a must use your hand to follow the steering column to the firewall, be sure you get it right at the firewall and not the circular part b4. its the mistake i made... i did this yesterday worked instantly, took a hefty spray tho.

Now my cabin smells of WD40... Bitches love the smell of WD40 hahaha
