    For VS Caprice.
    How much do these cost?
Do they have to be intact for roadworthy?
    Cheers,Col.

They are always on ebay, so watch them there. Cant see them being any more than say $30. Cant see why they would be of any concern to roadworthy.

They had to be replaced by the caryard as a roadworthy [ atleast thats what he told me] measure on my sons VS Calais.

I was wandering if anyone had struck this before?

Even though they are not connected.

so hes got some on at the moment but theyre dodgy or something?
thats the first ive heard of anything like that infering with the car being roadworthy... if they were hanging off n getting in the way of driving then sure that makes sense.
just take em off then itll be like a normal steering wheel?

Mate you can get a converter, I think for about $160, called a CAT09 from autobarn etc that will allow you to use the steering wheel controls with an aftermarket head unit. Otherwise if your not in a rush, michaelw is working on a much cheaper design that will hopefully link the two.

To remove them you need to remove the air bag. I think. Cant remember now. Im pretty sure you do need to remove the air bag, so you really need to run through the right procedure there to ensure that you dont set it off. The procedure is listed in the gregorys. Its not hard, but you just have to do it properly. Once the air bag is disabled you remove the 4 torx screws that hold the air bag in and you will have access to the controls.

    sounds hard to do.

I got the connector from Auto barn, but the radio does not recognise the controls. I dont think there was even enough wires. But thats ok, because the new radio has a remote

I would expect that holden would still carry them, wreakers or if your not in a rush ebay. You can also ask people on ebay that are selling a lot of VR/VS parts as they often are happy to sell you the bits you need.

Upto VS all the same then they changed slightly at VT and the VS and VT are not interchangable I have been told.
For details on how to's look at threads listed below at bottom of page.

If you want to check compatability get in contact with member 'michaelw'. He has played around with them a fair bit and Id bet he'd be able to tell you. $53 sounds a bit expensive. Im sure I picked up an airbag steering wheel with controls in great condition for something like $65. I suppose it depends how many there are around at the time and how many people are wanting them.
