Hey guys,

much to my regret, i've just become a dash tapper.

the speedo does work, but only if i accelerate quickly.
accelerate slowly and the speedo doesn't move until i either rev the engine a bit harder, or tap the dash.

just wanna know if anyone else with a vr\vs has had this problem or similar.

and more to the point how you fixed it :p

sounds like a sticky needle shaft? or possibly electrics loose?

i've looked through all the how to's and couldn't find anything, but if there is another thread that already answers this problem, then could someone possibly point me in that direction?

Cheers!

Could be 1 of 2 things (most often). The regulator in the cluster has a dodgy solder joint or the speed sensor on the gearbox is on the way out.

The regulator is the cheapes thing to fix first

in the meantime i'd suggest turning on ur digital speedo so u dont get any unnecessary attention from mr plod

if ya dont know how... here you go:

have car turned completely off
hold down all 3 buttons on ur speed alert (the 2 arrows and set)
keep holding and turn ur car to "on"
keep holding down for a while until "100" appears
let go of all three buttons
press "set" once

u should now have a constant digital speedo

to reverse this just repeat the above steps

good luck with the needle :)
