Okay, some updates on the VN. It's now rolling on 15" ceptors cos I can. VQ stato seats are in and are a big improvement. There Series 2 seats, and harder to fit into a VN. Wasn't to hard to get the old seats out. I put some WD - 40 on the bolts and waited a day or two for it to soak in. There's a write up on Calais turbo on how to take the seats out. I followed that. Some pics:
Ha!!!! Its been awhile since this has been updated. Some little things here and there have been changed. Not much though. New things are: - VN calais roof lining - VR statesman passenger roof mirror light - Whipped out the sliver paint pen, and hey - calais lights! - Power window conversion - only one window done, but all wiring is done. Just have to swap regulators! - Boot has been resprayed (home jobbie) - Rear badges removed - SS kit is soooo close to being ready, need more paint. and now pics!
I'm a little confused, you have a Calais centre console, Statesman seats, it's an Executive and has Berlina badges....Looks good though...
almost sounds like my car haha. nothing wrong with a fully customised car though. is that light above the passenger side sun visor a normal calais thing? didnt know they had lights there forgot to answer this months ago. series 1 are better because the rear seat is moulded into more of a bucket shape, like the higher model statos/senators/etc. check out my VN, or mortons VQ for an example. the colour is also a better blend with the VN interior
Haha Its a very confused VN... Lots of different higher model stuff in it. Like: - VP Calais centre console - VQ series 2 seats - VS calais rear felt pillers - VP/VR/VS calais console and under dash green lights - Rear map and passenger mirror lights - Door lights (when finish doing the power windows) - power windows and mirrors!!!! (coming soon):yeah: All this and the car still has the original Executive loom... Oh, and i put Berlina badges to make it look look better when i sprayed the bumpers red.:yeah:
did u manage too see what dash i have today, vr caprice loom with vr stato dash with vt seats and vr stato door trims,vq roof linning lol,and a vr caprice front end i will have on in a week with a ba hump and vz ss flutes, our cars seem to have alot of miss matched parts ha ha, but your car looked good today, keep up the work, u can have my bonnet lol with scoop the joys of putting in the electric windows and central locking, i would put some spring washers on the bolts when you put them in too, otherwise they will fall off the rails
Hey you know how the vr-vs have an econ/pwr button i got the center console and wirred my neons to that. Also nice car man has lots of potential by the looks of it. was the VP Calais convertion hard?
Yeah mate, had to have a peek inside. Top job, very impressive. Let me know about the bonnet and how much you want when your new one is ready/fitted. Also i'm pop riveting the motors back in. Found the right size ones in my shed. (I think they are at least) If i bolt them in, yeah spring washer for sure. And Leebo the neons aren't connected at the moment, but the power switch is a GREAT idea. And the VP console wasn't hard at all. Just make sure you have both looms and the main console part (not the covers) or you will have to think of a way to cut a hole for the light.:yeah:
Yeah i like the look of it i couldn't be bothered personally installing the Calias options there are to many differences.
***UPDATE*** I am now the proud owner of a very dirty set of Series 1 VQ statesman seats and door trims!!! I'm loving the look of this seats, don't know why I didn't listen to Stocky in the first place and get these. Hopefully they will be in by the end of the week. Also scored a VQ centre console. So now I can have a rear mounted ciggy lighter!!! Very nice :w00t::w00t: Pics!... when there are installed Also Rep for you Stocky
good to hear. the back seat can easily be modified if the hanging out bits annoy you. you just remove the cardboard bit, or whatever it has, and the foam, then wrap the fabric back behind the seat
Hey thanks mate. Nah I love the hanging out bits. They look cool, and make the seat more comfortable. Just hate the rip/hole where the christmas tree clips are. Can you take out the MDF/cardboard part so its all foamy? or should i just use the slam the door trick again?
good pick up on the seats, you will like the diference, my i nterior is abit dirty atm with stock vt seats in. i hade black leather seats in before
VQ seats are in. Very nice, they seem a little bit more firmer? or more padded than the series 2 jobs. Any ways now the seats match the doortrims and I couldn't be happier. Also Front SS lip and rear SS skirt have now been fitted. Except the rear skirt is too low, not in the right position (or straight) Serves me right for getting drunk and playing panel beater. Also fitted a set of VN calais horns (low and high tone) so thats one more calais feature to cross off the list!! Pics coming later when the camera is charged....
Okay Dokey. Picture time! Everyone loves pictures. Just excuse the no door trims in the back. I swear i'll get those motors in soon... Also pics of the half assed bodykit. Never will I drink half a bottle of beam and pick up a power tool again. Im lucky i didn't drill into my hand. Also front bumper needs a repaint, cos the SS lip is too shiny. I wish the bumper was that shiny.
Good thing you went with the VN rooflining, i just did a VS rooflining into my VP, wasnt fun..Have you got any close ups of the rear pillars mate? Kit looks good too, is the grill sitting out of line a little?
Thanks mate. Yeah took me soooo long to find a mint VN calais roof. I'll grab a pic of the pillers for you over the weekend. Yeah the grills missing 3 nuts at the bottom. They fell off and there are an odd size and i havn't been able to find a replacement yet. Meanvn: Thanks again mate. I'm trying to keep up with you.
