Melbourne Storm well and trully have got the book thrown at them.
They should of done what AFL football club Carlton did with Chris Judd and paid their players by an external company ( VISY ).It works for Carlton so why not the Melbourne Storm.

They werent recieving "under the table" payments. They were being paid unfront. It was all going into the bank accounts and coming from 3rd party sponsors. The financial officers were just hiding what they were paying them from EVERYONE. Billy Slater didnt sit there with his calculator saying well I earn X amount... and Cameron Smith earns this amount and Inglis earns this amount... WOW were over the salary cap.

As Phil Ghould said last night. Melbourne knows what it costs to have an exciting, successful team. You can either pay your players top money, or watch teams like Cronulla fumble around like retards. The cap needs to be raised to stop the top talent going to either a) England to play Super League or b) Union.

The problem Storm has, and the problem Broncos have had for the last 20 years. They take no name players and transform them into international players in 3 seasons. Then they are taken away from them and they are stuck with nothing.

Also funny to see that the **** clubs are already licking the lips with the amount of Storm talent that has just come on the market.

its not the 10k average each thing, the issue is the bulldogs did it and got in trouble, and for the storm to not realise or see it was going to happen to them, they deserve harsh punishment.
the reason the punishment i believe was so severe is because that team would have probably been seperated into different teams with each player signing up for more money elsewhere. they have a fantastic team on paper, and its been reflected in the past few years.

i have edited my previous post to agree with your opinion, i do agree with what you have said in that aspect.

Why did the Juniors lose their premierships, these lads get paid about as much as a kid working at McDonalds.

I can't **** believe this happen by far the worst thing to ever happen to a club, imo Melbourne Storm will Fold, there is no way in hell They will get a investor to Bail them out, ive loved Melbourne storm since i started following them But this is by far the worst decision ever ***** nrl boss should be shot for doing such hass decision , i really hope our players stick together, they have said they take a pay cut, , g.i would rather play at Melbourne Rebals than join another nrl Club its going be interested few weeks with melb storm , and i'm outraged by this as any other Melb storm is, Melb have demomated the nrl since they were brought into the competition yes Admin ***** it up for us fans and not telling the NRL.

I have to say, the fans have shown their support. Well done. I would love nothing more than for players to sake a salary cut, come back next year and take the premiership back. Would **** over the NSW and QLD team so bad.

Minux, News LTD for a couple of years now have said they want to scale back their funding of Melbourne Storm, no doubt after this they will be rethinking it. The Storm doesnt make much money, its pretty much News Limited which has kept it afloat and has continued to throw money at it. One thing that pissed me off the other day in the newspaper. The Herald Sun was reporting about the low tv ratings for Melbourne Storm games in Melbourne. If Ch 9 actually put Melbourne Storm games on before 2 am, I am sure they would see an improvement.

Central Coast Bears wants to re-enter the league and have said if the Storm fold they will take the license and an investor in Brisbane has said if they fold he will buy them out and move them to Sunshine Coast Queensland.

Cameron Smith has said he along with the other guys have talking about taking paycuts to fall under the salary cap if it means keeping the team together. It was only 3 players who were getting extras and that was Slater, Inglis and Smith. Slater and Smith both have pretty good 3rd party deals bolstering up their salaries, the only one who doesnt is Inglis, so i think hes the most likely to leave if it comes to that.

I would actually like to see the club moved to Sunshine Coast, despite me never seeing a Rugby League game whilst still living in this god forsaken city, Central Queensland needs a team, theres a HUGE gap between Brisbane and Nth Queensland, a market that is untapped and that is Rugby crazy, plus id rather see the Storm go back to Queensland where it used to be based rather than become another team in Cockroach country.

We wont know untill the end of the year how bad the damage is. Without Storm earning points this season, a lot of fans will be thinking well why bother go to a game. Thats what is going to break us.

Why do the Sunshine Coast need a team? Qld already has 3 teams. Anyway there is no stadiums for them here. The Sunny Coast doesn't even have the money to build a hospital let alone $15 million for the stadium at Stockland Park (stupid Anna Bligh)

Why do Sunshine Coast need a team? Theres a 1,300 km space between the Brisbane Broncos and the Nth Queensland Cowboys. I know when I lived in Maroochydoore, your choice was pretty much go for the Bronco's. Surely in that 1300 km space, people want a team they can call their own and not drive for hours to see a game. I know I did.

Queensland and NSW are Rugby's heartland. NSW has what 11 teams out of the 16. I know theyre looking to expand, the two loudest sites at the moment is Sunshine Coast and Central Coast NSW - another place where they are bang in the middle of choosing between 2 teams - Manly or Newcastle.

Plus.. Nambour Hospital is plenty :p

All I can say that they deserve whats happening to them. Melbourne cheated and that’s that. There is no room for cheats in the NRL.
And Melbourne you can forget about having the State Of Origin getting played there it will never happen now.
We will see how good the Storm play next year without cheating. All I can say Suckt In
