Firstly - nice forum people..there is some great info on here.

Now - i have a standard supercharged v6 holden sedan , VX acclaim Its done 151000 kms. Lately when im driving i take my foot off the throttle when approaching traffic lights and i have nocticed the tacho needle slowly reving up and down..enough to hear the motor quietly rev up and down..small revs , nothing too high.

In the same week i also found the steering wheel vibrating when i brake. The pads are bendex and half worn and the discs were skimmed (i hope thats right) when the pads were fitted. I have no vibration at any other freeway speed etc.

I had all the hoses replaced recently and a new radiator. I also had the valley cover gasket replaced. The car drove ok after those repairs.

Could someone please offer me some advise.

    Thanks in advance.

Do your plugs and leads then if its still happening look at your o2 sensors. :) .. Mine was doing something similar - Good Quality Bosch Platinum plugs / Leads and it went away. :)

Spark plugs and fuel filter will normally fix the surging engine when you lift your foot off the throttle. The steering wheel vibrating when braking is usually warped front brake rotors. Machining the rotors makes them thinner so they are more prone to warping again. You are better off buying new rotors than having them machined again. They are normally only around $50 each for new ones

As above, dont bother getting brake discs honed or skimmed, just replace them with new ones. Every time someones asked me to check out why theye brakes are pulsating or vibrating etc etc, the first thing I ask them is have they had the discs honed at all, as doing this just stuffs the disc up and usually makes them worse then they already were. Nearly every time Ive come across this problem, ive fixed it simply by fitting brand new discs and pads all round...

I've got the same problem (not the brakes) when I'm driving at speeds higher than 80km/h and let go of the throttle, the revs move about 100rpm up and down and I can hear the engine. Once I get below that speed, it idles fine. It's been there since I bought the car and it has always got me wondering.
