hi all got a strange problem. today the car was nearly staling on me at the lights like really idleing low, noow when its in park it idles nice
but when its in drive the car is cutting in and out and sh!t.

the drive belt tensioner is going nuts when it drive but is smooth in idle

i suspected poor vacuum pressure so done a diag. and i got a code 24 vehicle speed sensor but the guage works so? unless theres a sensor and sender duno.

um suspect a misfire but its had new plugs and leads and filters and everthing except an injector flush and yes its had the balencer done. all i needs is a timing chain swap other than that should be runing fine n e one else got something to add?

leads all on the right plugs?

with the speed sensor, sounds like the multiplier board in the instrument clusters gone, or the wires broken somewhere. get that fixed, because the ecu thinks your revving the motor all over the place but not going anywhere and the fuel maps and such arent telling the motor the right things while ur driving.

yer but is it a sensor or sender? loll it only logged it once and hasnt since so i dunno might be playing up where does it sit exactly? inside the cluster.. just did a dash swap so might have something to do with it. do you thik it could be related to my idle issue? it hasnt reeli lost power at all so im wanting to rule out a missfire but its the drive belt thats getting me its obviously getting tension from one of the pullys and it shouldnt be the balancer cause i did i like less than a year ago

wiring problem will be on the back of the dash somewhere. take out the cluster and trace the wiring on the back and look for tears. your speedo sensor is fine if the gauge works

id be checking and cleaning your throttle body and air flow sensor in there. also check and redo all earth points on your car also if you have the money get a new o2 sensor the take your battery terminals off to reset the computer once youve fitted all the new bits.

throttle body is clean, have replaced O2 sensor put in over the last year had the battery out to reset the ecu, revved it at 3000 for 30 secs to clear it, checked that theres spark, recently had the injectors cleaned, done the harmonic balencer and done the belt tenioner and pulley.

like i said in park it revvs smooth as anything but in drive the revs drop and it starts to fluctuate in and out of idle and the belt jerks like crazy..

ive been driving with no stereo so ive noticed that when i depress the accelerator it is silent the exhaust doesnt make a sound (it usually pops casue its got a system)

and it actually cut out on me today, its like theres a massive strain on the engine (like when the thermos kick in or you turn on the a/c) could it be the trans or something? torque converter? just tryna think something up.. at trade skool today the mechanics(apprentices) where puzzled
dont want to turn up the idle cause it idles fine in park
and the only code is for the vss

i wasnt logging the vss before te dash swap so i might see if ive pinched something.. um so it would be the plugs at the back? where do you want me to follow them too cause im not taking out the dash again!

the actual circuit board on the back of the cluster. gonna have to remove it to check them
