i been looking at a couple of strut braces on ebay for the vn and was wondering some of them say only fits v6 model? is this correct? i cant see there being any differance from v6-v8. as far as i know all the strut tops are the same and distances between.
I got a nolathane v8 (may be same as a v6 dont know ) one there is a pic in my project thread can get a close ups if you like. The only issue i see would be clearance over the manifold and the like. Cheers Pub
hrmmm..not exactly to sure, but i think it may be that the V8 engine sits higher than the V6? there for the v8 strut braces clears the top of the engine. ..i guess you could use a V8 strut brace in the 6? but cant use the V6 strut brace in the V8. just wild guess =P
Ok i have the nolathane adjustable strut brace part no. 44400 according to their website suit vb-vl 6 cyl vn-vp 6/8 cyl i guess earlies v8 are different due to probably air filter carbie clearance Strut brace Picture Strut parts Guide
yeh that might be possible, didnt even think about clearance, how much did the nolathane one cost ya?
Bought it with the car wouldn't what they cost but i bet theyre more than most other brands dont know if other brands are adjustable but i'd hazard a guess and say 200-300 retail
My nolathane one for my VS cost me $130, but that was at staff pricing, i would assume retail would be around teh $200 mark, i wouldnt think a VN one would cost anything majorly different
I wouldn't be paying that much for a Nolathane one. $150 or so i'd say. My Whiteline one was only $160.
a v6 brace will fit a v8, but its a tight squeeze. the brake fluid resivious gets in the way thats why the v8 ones angle forwards.
Yeah you are right redranger make both the whiteline and nolathane products. I gave repco a ring retail price for the nolathane evolution strut brace part no. 44400 is $187. Your telling me the adjustable bolt on mine is almost hard against the master cylinder resiviour though i dont see how it'd be much difference between a V6 or V8
I had a cheapie identical to yours and it was rubbing on the brake lines/resiviour on my vq v8 but fit fine on my vp v6.
yeh i was thinkin just a cheapo one for now, i just wanna see how much differance they make. this is what i was thinking HOLDEN COMMODORE VN FRONT CHROME STRUT BRACE BAR - eBay Engine Modifications, Performance Parts, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 17-Aug-08 20:13:08 AEST)
they make no differance whatsoever between differant models, just some come out with differently designed arms. some only have 2 nuts to hold it down, some of them 3....
it makes a fair difference, in my vt becuase it has a floating firewall it is lacking that stiff ness in the front end. I noticed a big increase in corner speed after it was fitted: mine was200 fited from pedders but with the vt they need to drill holes in the tower as they arent there factory so it was a bit more expensive
kniever i didnt see any links from you???? post the one up. and you guys that have never drien with one, youll put it one and think 'wheres my money gone' you wont notivce it straight away bgut will after a few corners. when you get good at utilising it then you will corner almost twice as fast & stable as a commodore without one. Strut brace's are also good for off the mark acceleration, it stops the strut towers from flexing & holds the car in a straight line.
