    Hi,
The vp stalled while driving, towed it home with lights on (at night) so battery almost dead. Have pulled the fuel pump off coz was no noise, realized mate had actually put a new pump on when he did the sender 6mths ago so put it back on and remembered it has a fuse and relay... Fuse is fine and when I changed the headlight relay over the car started and ran fine. I only let it run 30seconds coz pulling the fuel pump off had almost drained all the fuel. I put 5ltrs in it about an hour later and now it wont start! It turns over and runs for a few seconds then dies (when being jump started) without the jump start it doesnt even turn over. There is no air lock and immobiliser is off... Anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be?? Its got me stumped because it started first go with a different relay and seemed to run perfect till I turned it off 30secs later...

Oh and have pulled the fuel filter off, was good! Wires all seem fine for the pump too!

Do you hear the fuel pump prime when the ignition is turned on? If not, then power will only go to the fuel pump once oil pressure has built up, so may need extra cranking time to start.
    How old is the CAS?
Clean your battery terminals and charge up the battery.
If an auto, give your gearstick a run through the gears, as the switch may be playing up.

engine light coming on? id go ahead and do an error code check. could be crank angle sensor, could be a whole range of things. is your battery light on? maybe the battery is the only juice the car has to run the systems and your alternator has pooped its pants...

Whats a CAS? Still learning things and not overly familiar with the crank angle sensor, but assumed it wasn't that because it started and ran for 30secs and didnt die, I turned it off to go get more fuel for it... It jump starts, but wont stay on.. There is still no fuel pump noise! Would like to fix it myself, but think its going a little over my head! Battery is fairly new as is quite a lot of this car. Could it be the O2 sensor? I have changed it, but had to modify it to fit coz was a universal one, but that was 6mths ago too... Car was running great before it stalled!

CAS= Crank Angle Sensor, and the car wont run at all, or it will run crook and stall etc if this sensor is faulty. You said that the fuel pump fuse is ok, but with the fuel pump relay, just replace it with a brand new one, just to be 100% sure its working.
Get someone to get their head down under the car near the fuel tank and get them to listen for the fuel pump working, if it doesnt come on for 2 seconds then turn off again when the ignition is first turned to the ON position, then the fuel pump is stuffed and needs replacing, or the fuel pump wiring has a break somewhere between the fuel pump relay and the pump. Check this with a test light, connect a test light to a good earth and to the fuel pump power wire (at the connector near the fuel tank) the test light should light up for 2 seconds then go out if power is getting to the fuel pump. If the test light lights up for the 2 seconds, the pump is the problem.

Check the altenator? Might not have enough in the battery?

If you don't hear the fuel pump priming, give the tank a good whack underneath and try again.

step 1: check for error codes
step 2: if any show up replace the component known to cause said error code (if none show up it's a good chance to be fuel supply related)

as the sender/pump have been removed a couple of times now.. about 6 months ago i had an intermittent fuel pump issue, chased it around the car for weeks till i found the small round white power plug was the issue, as it'd been plugged in/unplugged quite a few times the contacts inside had slightly bent and weren't making great contact all the time, long shot but if it's pump related and you have a new pump installed it could be it.
