stupid newbie questions

With the gear knob pull on it straight up, the silicone glue may have let go.If it has clean off old glue and reaply,it is not on a thread. if its the same as vy ss gear knobs correct me if im wrong.

I think it's the other thing as ScoHar suggested - the cup thing at the bottom rather than movement between the knob and the stick, I went and had another look and the knob seems solid on the stick. Might have to get into it a bit more to really see though.
