That sub is even less efficient than the Pioneer. You confuse me :p

The sub is a DVC unit. Had a listen to it next to the current model pioneer of the same specs and the sound difference was hugely noticeable.

And my pioneer is getting old too, dont think its playing at its best anymore

if you don't want the pioneer sub any more send it down to QLD il try to do it some good by putting 4000rms to it through a SPL box. But if you think the sub sounds loud enough for you then get it. cause your not trying to please your mum with this set up your trying to please your self.

DVC has no relation to how it sounds. It just allows different wiring options.

Were the subs in the same type and volume boxes and had the same power? If so, a sub with a 89dB efficiency rating (Pioneer) should be clearly louder than one with an 83dB efficiency rating (Soundstream). Plus you still only have 260W...

Hopefully you're happy with it when you get it, but you've taken none of the advice given and just listened to a salesman :bang:

As i understand it, efficiency rating does not allways equal louder.

I heard the soundstream in the same sized sealed box as the pioneer, and they were both running off the same amp as i have in my car.

I didnt listen to the salesman, i listened to the sub.

May have a more of a look around at JB Hifi and the likes though

If the efficiency was measured with the same method, then it will indicate the loudness running from the same power.

DD is quite easy to get... Most Autobarn stores should be able to order them for you. Or you can email them and ask for your nearest retailer.

Can't really comment on those models but DD has a good reputation for having loud subs.

nah don't get the 512, i got 2 3515's and they still arent loud enough and i got them running of 4000rms. So go with a 2515, then you will be happy.

Mate... You're giving out **** advice again :bang:

He only has 260W, so you recommend him a 750W subwoofer... And a 15" at that, when he's getting a 12" to fit in his current box.

well he can go the 512, but in a pre fab pioneer box the sub is going to sound like utta ****, so build a better box to house the new DD if you get them. Also try RE. they are like DD just without the price tag.

Yeah it's a good basic sub, but build a custom ported box for the sub. like a 2.5cuft sub then when you get a bigger amp it can handle the extra power. How did you go with the splits ?

havent got them yet, took everything except the deck off laybuy at motoquipe. Ill get the sub and the deck in over the next 2 weeks, and then ill start looking for some splits for the front

I would have a look at JL and Focal if you are after clarity and some good midbass. good to see that your making good choices. But if you can use that 2ch amp for the front splits and buy a dedicated mono block amp to power the sub. Something with 400rms @2ohm should be enongh to get the DD loud.
