Ok, a while ago i was looking through a Street Machine i think and i saw something pretty cool. A guy had the face of a cd player installed in the sunvision while the cd player unit was tucked away in the glove box. My questions... Where? How much? Or do you think it was a totally custom job... ANy input would be GREAT guys!! thanks!
i've always liked that idea and wondered how they did it i'd imagine that it's just a long ribbon cord that runs from the front of the unit where the face plate would usually link to then to the back of the face plate and a bracket to hold it in place up there...but i wouldnt have a clue on how its really done
Yeah... i was thinking along the same lines but im sure i've seen it in a few cars so i thought it might be a part i can get. Just in the next 2-3 years i want to get my self a classic project car and i want the interior to stay classic...
its pretty simple if you know what you are doin. if you have a look between the face plate and cd player you will see a bunch a gold contacts that when in the normal postion will make contact. you just need a to run a ribbon cable (or apparnetly telephone cable will work as well) to make the contacts join. solider into place and it should all work. most descent stereo or electronics places should be able to help you out..
Yeah that should work fine. But as for cds and stuff you would have to use one that flips down to put the disc in. Or get one of those ones with direct ipod control thatd be pretty cool... But then the question is... what do u put where the cd player is spose to go? lol
Haha yeah... i was planning on having the classic FM/AM radio in its original place as either a dummy or working.
in dash folda away screen... or even better a 7 inch LCD screen just a lil custom work with the plastic surround
i remember in an old issue of SC there was a purple VP Senator, with a sweet layout, ill try upload a picture of the dash
