VT Supercharged
Hi,
I've done some searches but can't find exact answers I need.

First is what type of oil is used in the factory supercharger? I saw another thread about the oil and how to check/top up etc, but no one stated what type of oil it is. Auto shops have no idea, one guy said just use gear oil?? I will check with holden dealers tomorrow but anyone else got oil info?

also

I have a VT Supercharged s and the belts squeak. I have put some stuff on it from autobarn to stop squeaks and it helped heaps but there is still a little squeaky sound. It sound like it is coming from near the supercharger pulley area?? but hard to tell.
I want to change the pulley to a 10psi one anyway (PS what size is that in mm?) but I hear they are hard to get off? Looking at it, it appears to just be a screw like the other pulleys, so are there any tricks? is it normal or reverse thread?

thanks in advance

j

If its the factor pully it has to be pressed off using the specialist tool mate

standard pully is an interferance fit

10psi pulley is 87mm.
and yes light gear oil is fine or get it from holden and get the coupler for it as well that could be the noise your hearing

well I tried some stuff from autobarn and it stopped squeak for an hour, but then tried the powder trick and after a few applications, absolutely no squeaks!
works wonders....and free

thanks for info, any ideas on the supercharger oil type?

u can use 75w90 gearbox oil its the cheapest option. but if you want to do it properly just go 2 holden and ask for some supercharger oil and i think yella terra does supercharger oil which is even cheaper

The pulley is a pressed fit so you will either need the removal/install tool for it, or remove the snout and use a press. I just use gear oil in my blower. I think the genuine stuff from holden is derived from unicorn blood with a ground hens teeth additive judging by the price.

And if the belts squeaking it will most likely be a worn out pulley, belt or tensioner or something so id look at fixing the issue properly rather than using soap or any form of lubricant that will just get rid of the noise. I learnt this the hard way when my old VR was squealing like a cut pig so I kept spraying it with belt grip. Well, eventually the belt just shredded and I had no power steering. Lesson learnt, fix the problem, don't shut it up
