Surface rust on engine

About a year ago I had a split in a hose which caused quite a bit of steam under the hood for a few days. It has left me with light surface rust on the top of my VR V6 engine.

I'm just wondering if anyone can shed any light on how I could remove it. It sticks out like a sore thumb!

Thanks

Nat

Maybe - I'd probably use a rattle gun, spanners, the odd screw driver and an engine hoist.

I don't usually keep an engine hoist handy lol, was hoping for a reasonably simple solution!!

Maybe try some CLR....it's supposed to remove rust stains.

Came up really nice. Now to fit newly painted rocker covers and my new engine cover and she should start looking presentable again!

V8 conversion anyone?

I'm currently saving, she's only a 'temporary v6' lol. Til then I have to make the old Buick 3800 look as good as it can. It would be cheaper to buy a new VR with a V8 but I love my car so much that i'm willing to pay the extra for a conversion. I have big plans! Will post pics of red rocker covers and matching engine cover soon. Oh and CLR, a toothbrush, steel wool and a little bit of back pain worked pretty well to get the patchy rust off. Will post pic later =)

Glad the CLR suggestion helped.
